Sponsored Head Shave

We had a huge crowd at our sponsored head shave & waxing night to raise funds for a defibrillator for the club dressing rooms last Saturday night in Ned Kennedy’s pub. The club would like to sincerely thank everyone who came along on the night & all the “victims” who came under the blade or waxing strip. The club would like to especially thank Caitriona Quinlan who was the driving force behind the night, & who did a fantastic job. Anyone who has sponsorship cards should return them to any committee member not later than the end of this week. The following businesses/organisations contributed generously to make the night a resounding success.

A New U, Ashdale Farm, Becky’s Beat, Bourke’s Carrick-on-Suir, Broadleaf Wood Craft, Carraig Hotel, Carrick-on-Suir & District Lions Club, Comeragh Oil, Deegan’s Carrick-on-Suir, Dennis Barry Photography, Dovea Genetics, Dungarvan Transport, Far East Chinese, First Class Castle’s, Fitness Freak, Fitzgerald’s Menswear, Kirwan’s Pharmacy Kilmacthomas, Maudie Kennedy’s, MBM Farm Supplies, My Dress, Name It, Ned Kennedy’s, Next Door Off-Licence, Papermaid Stationery, Pat Flynn Racing, Sam McCauley’s Chemist, Sean Kelly’s Sports Centre, Shelley & Purcell Auctioneers, Star Fuels, Suir Hire, Suir Tyre, Tramore Races, The Rosebowl, The Wardrobe Clonmel, Walsh’s Funeral Directors, West Gate Stores, WLR FM, Wurlitzer Menswear.

Junior Football

We had a tough battle in our Eastern semi-final against De La Salle last Friday night in a match which was switched from Kill to Dunhill, before coming out on top on a score line of 1-10 to 1-5. We were well on top throughout the pitch for the whole first half but failed to make the most of our possession, but some poor shooting from De La Salle meant we had a comfortable lead of 1-6 to 0-1 at half time. We failed to drive on in the second half & when De La Salle goaled with about 10 minutes to go they cut the deficit to 5 points, & but for a few good saves from our goalie in the last few minutes, it could have been a lot closer at the finish. We need a huge improvement if we are to have any chance of beating Gaultier in the Eastern Final in a few weeks time, as they have already beaten use comfortably in the league section earlier in the year, but no doubt all the players & management will give it their best shot.

U16 Football Championship

Our U16’s had a comfortable win away to Ardmore last Saturday on a score line of 4-16 to 3-5. The lads are at home to St. Oliver’s next Sunday at 11:30 AM.

Senior Football

We play Kilrosanty in a make or break championship match for both teams in Kilmac next Sunday 11th September. There is a little bit of confusion over the throw in time as we submit the notes, as both 1:30 PM & 3:30 PM have been mentioned, so please check local press or the Waterford GAA website for details. Please come along & shout on the lads in their efforts to progress in the championship.

Club Mugs

Our crested club mugs are now available & flying out the door at Monica & Willie Powers shop in the village & at €5 are reasonably priced. A limited number are available so please buy early to avoid disappointment & help support the clubs fundraising efforts.

County Board Fundraising Draw

The county board have issued a number of special fundraising draw tickets to all clubs to help with the finances of the county board. Details of the prizes on offer can be viewed on the Waterford GAA website & anyone who is interested in supporting this venture can do so by contacting any committee member.
